You’ve never seen what happens before a photo. So let me tell you — you’re in my house, after all.
It starts in the wardrobe. The other day I tried on twenty-seven pieces in front of the mirror, one after another, almost without stopping. A white lace body, a silk slip that slips off my shoulder, something with a bit of sparkle. And no, I’m not going to tell you which ones stayed out, though one of them never made it into the photos for reasons that have nothing to do with the clothes 😏
Then the good part begins, the part nobody sees. It’s her and me, and everything else stays outside. At this point I don’t mind being in my underwear in front of her: she’s one of the few people I’m not embarrassed about anything with. She knows me and she can tell when I’m comfortable and when I’m pretending. When I start posing she tells me: not like that. And she’s right, you can see it on my face.
I don’t know how to pose. I never have. I’ve tried, and I come out looking strange, as if I were someone else.
So we do whatever comes out. She talks to me, tells me things, laughs at me, I laugh at her, and in between the laughter she keeps shooting. She tells me not to move and I hold it… two seconds. Two, no more, because I’m not going to pretend to be what I’m not. And two seconds later we’re both laughing our heads off.
That’s where almost everything comes from. Not from a trick or a pose, but from being at ease with someone in front of me who doesn’t judge me. When I relax I can see myself; when I pose, I can’t. That’s why you’ll never see me serious in a photo of mine: a serious face just doesn’t happen. I’ve tried. I told you something about this a few weeks ago, in the other post.
By the end of the day there are more than two hundred photos left and between the two of us we keep one from each moment: the one with that look I like. The rest are kept anyway, because sometimes the one that seemed like nothing is the one I like most later. As in almost everything, isn’t it? 😏
My face is blurred, for discretion. Everything else exactly as it came out, with no retouching and no artifice: the odd shadow, the messy hair, the real smile.
In my gallery you’ll find the ones you do get to see. Take your time with them. And if one of them leaves you wanting to know what I’m like in person, you know where to find me.
Kisses
